It's a little better than the other beginner light armor sets. The Reforged Crusader set is relatively easy to get if you want a unique/enchanted one. If you have AE or the armours from creation club then madness armour is the best heavy armour and daedric mail or amber is the best light armour probably amber because the daedric mail lacks a helmet IIRC.
