General admiral

Army, Air Force and Marine Corps officers are called general officers in paygrades O-7 and higher. Each rank, at this point, carries its own mandatory requirement, although officers can promote to the next rank or retire. Promotion to brigadier general or rear admiral (lower half) depends on job availability and a range of other variables.
