The first number in the spring description is it's initial rate while the second is it's compressed strength. The first number is largely responsible for the clutch engagement rpm while the second number controls how the clutch upshifts. Clutch problems? I'd worry about weld distortion and keeping the belt contact surface as designed, but given the price I'd consider giving it a shot. I wondering if the one off an early serial number 855D would work.

Anyway, it’s nearly impossible to shift when it is idling. You have to shut it off and just hold your foot on the brake and start it in gear. It’s been like this for a while because all switches and safety devices have been bypassed. it shifts fine.
